A New Chapter: Monarch Coffee Collective Finds Home in the Pacific Northwest

For more than a decade, our work as coffee producers has been deeply rooted in the volcanic soil of Kona. From hand-picking coffee cherries to pioneering new processing methods and roasting on-site, we’ve poured our hearts into every step of the journey.

But as seasons change, so do we-and this year, we’ve stepped into something entirely new.

From Kona to Oregon: Why We Moved

Earlier this year, we transitioned our roasting operations from Hawai‘i to Salem, Oregon, marking the beginning of a new chapter for Monarch Coffee. While Monarch Estate remains the beating heart of our origin story—and we continue to oversee and nurture the crop—we’ve created something new: Monarch Coffee Collective.

This shift wasn’t about leaving something behind. It was about expanding what’s possible.

With our parents now enjoying a well-earned retirement and a stellar farm team managing the day-to-day in Kona, we saw the opportunity to reimagine how we could serve—not just as producers, but as collaborators, consultants, and community-builders.

Inside the New Monarch Experience Center

Our new Salem-based HQ is more than a roastery. It’s a place to gather, learn, and dream together. We’re building an experience center rooted in connection and craft, where quality coffee and community are always at the center of the table.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Tastings & Slow Bar Service
Curated flights, guided cuppings, and beautifully brewed coffees of Hawaii.

  • Roasting Workshops & Education
Roasting intensives, sensory sessions, and post-harvest processing workshops for producers and enthusiasts.

  • Coworking & Creative Space
A cozy, inspiring place to work, create, and collaborate.

Coming Soon: Co-Roasting for Small Brands & Home Roasters

We’re especially excited to introduce our co-roasting program, designed for:

  • Home roasters ready to scale beyond their kitchen

  • Small shops & cafés seeking more control over their roasting

  • Emerging coffee brands without access to equipment

Once our new roaster is installed, we’ll offer flexible access, onboarding, and roasting support—plus a place to build community with others on the same path.

Same Coffee, New Possibilities

We continue to steward the crop at Monarch Estate, overseeing post-harvest processing and quality. With the support of a skilled on-island team and our ongoing involvement in every decision, you can expect the same award-winning flavor and integrity in every cup.

Currently, we’re roasting our 100% Kona coffees in collaboration with our friends at Coava Coffee Roasters in Portland.

Thank you for being part of our journey. Here’s to better coffee, deeper roots, and a collective future.
